“Primates and Parrots” trip report

The systematic list for the most recent departure of the WildWings “Primates and Parrots” expedition voyage to Amazonian Brazil was published recently and by clicking here, you can download a copy of this.

This tour provides participants with the opportunity to look for a host of endemic primates and for the second trip in succession, 30 or more species were recorded including a host of highly localised endemics.  These included Silvery, Golden-and-white Tassel-ear, Santarém and Sateré Marmosets, the critically endangered Pied (Bare-faced) Tamarin, as well as Martin’s Bare-faced and Midas Tamarins, Golden-brown Uacari and Red-nosed Bearded, Guianan Bearded, Gray’s Bald-faced and White-faced Sakis.

The trip also did well for Titi monkeys with five species seen including the highly localised Lake Baptista Titi.

Finding the localised parrots of this special part of the Amazon is another priority on the tour and all targets were seen including the simply stunning Golden Parakeet.  Clients also saw Bald and Vulturine Parrots and Crimson-bellied Parakeet and for the first time we also saw Sulphur-breasted Parakeet which was only described in 2005.
