China: Snow Leopards, Pallas’s Cats and Chinese Red Pandas “in comfort”

Whilst the headline species might be Snow Leopards (which have been seen on every departure to date), there is a lot more to see on this amazing holiday which starts at Chengdu and gradually climbs up onto the Tibetan Plateau.

The most recent tour recorded an impressive 28 mammal species with several hours spent watching Snow Leopard, Eurasian Lynx and Pallas’s Cat.  Other highlights included two female Tibetan Blue Bears each with a cub, six Himalayan Wolves, three Chinese Red Pandas, as well as Wild Yak, Tibetan Antelope (Chiru), Tibetan Fox, Argali, Blue Sheep (in abundance), White-lipped Deer, Kiang, Przewalski’s Gazelle and an Altai Mountain Weasel.

The gradual journey from the Sichuan Basin to the Tibetan Plateau not only provides a diverse range of wildlife but also allowed for altitude acclimatisation.
