Ladakh – report from the field

WildWings’ popular “Ultimate Snow Leopards and Pallas’s Cats” tour to the high Himalayan Indian province of India is currently underway and guide Dick Filby has sent us the following video of a Snow Leopard mating encounter which our group witnessed:

Dick has told us that:

“Snow Leopards were seen on four of the first five full days of the tour, with a minimum of four different individuals. This mating pair was close to our homestay. The only day in the first five that we didn’t see Snow Leopards we spent a couple of hours watching a Eurasian Lynx hunting on an open mountainside in full view! Since we started these Ladakh trips in 2014 we have always had multiple sightings every year.”

Since then, the group has moved on to look for Pallas’s Cat and we understand that they have enjoyed good encounters with this fantastic feline as well as seeing Wolf and an impressive selection of birds and other wildlife.

Details of our 2027 departure will be added to the WildWings website shortly but if you are interested in registering your interest in the interim, please contact the office.
