“Birding Down Under” update
The Heritage Expeditions voyage around the New Zealand and Australian subantarctic islands is unquestionably one of the ultimate seabirding trips on the planet and the list of species that can seen is truly incredible with the possibilities including over a dozen species of albatross, three endemic penguins (Snares, Royal and Erect-crested) plus a multitude of other seabirds including Magenta Petrel (critically endangered), Eastern Rockhopper Penguin and seven species of cormorant that are found nowhere else on the planet.
There is also a long list of great ‘landbirds’ to look for including Shore Plover, Chatham Oystercatcher, Antipodes Parakeet, Snares Fernbird and both Auckland and Campbell Flightless Teals.
The 2022 voyage was the first departure on the company’s new vessel, Heritage Adventurer, and to read the trip report and view the systematic list of the species seen, please click on the links or view via the “trip reports” tab on our website.
The 2023 departure is already filling fast, with most of the cheaper twin cabins already sold out so if this is a trip you are interested in doing then we strongly recommend getting in touch with the WildWings office team.
