Streaked Reed Warbler Acrocephalus sorghophilus – An extremely difficult and elusive individual was observed in the Magic Wood area, Laoting on 17/05/09, see notes.

Black-browed Reed Warbler  Acrocephalus bistrigiceps – 763 bird-days between 08/05/09 and 23/05/09 with an estimated 500 at Beidaihe on 19/05/08 followed by 200 Beidaihe   23/05/0 the Highest day totals

Blunt-winged Warbler Acrocephalus concinens – 1 was heard singing on Happy Island briefly on 17/05/09, apparently trapped the following day.

Chinese Bush warbler  Bradypterus tascanowskius – 1 seen relatively well, Magic Wood, laoting 14/05/09

Manchurian Reed Warbler  Acrocephalus tangorum –  1 near Magic Wood, Laoting  17/05/09 and 1 observed well near Lighthouse Point, Beidaihe 19/05/09

Oriental Great Reed Warbler  Acrocephalus orientalis – 20+ bird-days between 14/05/09 and 23/05/09 with a peak of 10+ birds at Beidaihe on 19/05/09, a poor year.

Thick-billed Warbler  Acrocephalus aedon – 178 bird-days between 15/05/09 and 23/05/09 with 100+ in Beidaihe on 19/05/09 and 40+ Beidaihe 23/05/09 High counts this year.

Tolai Hare Lepus tolai – Occasionally noted around Beidaihe including Lighthouse Point!

Muskrat Ondatra zibethicus – Occasionally observed at the Reservoir, Beidaihe, a Feral population.

Pere David’s Rock Squirrel Sciurotamias davidianus – Observed at the Bai He River 08/05/09, the Great Wall, Shanhaiguan 22/05/09 and Zushan FP, (Old Peak) 21-22/05/09

Siberian Chipmunk  Tamias sibiricus – Observed in Beijing, Beidaihe and Zushan FP, Old Peak.

Birdlike Noctule Nyctalus aviator – Large ‘Noctule’s” were seen most evenings at the Jinshan are apparently this species ?

Snakes

Oriental Tiger Snake  Rhabdophis tigrinus formosanus – A  couple of observations of this rather dramatic looking “grass snake”

Red-backed Ratsnake Elaphe rufodorsata – 1 observed at Magic Wood, Laoting
